Dolce & Gabbana Makes Albarran Its US President
By Godfrey Deeny
Fashion Wire Daily - Sao Paulo - Dolce & Gabbana have named a new top executive for its business in the United States. The Milan based fashion house announced Thursday that they had appointed Christophe Albarran to be the new president of its U.S. subsidiary. The release said that the appointment was "effective December 2007." Albarran replaces Glenn McMahon, who quit Dolce & Gabbana in August to become chief executive officer of St. John. Albarran will report directly to Dolce & Gabbana's board, the release stressed. The new US CEO of Dolce & Gabbana is an experienced executive. His most recent position was as vice president of global sales at Victorinox Swiss Army, where he worked since May 2006. Prior to that, Albarran was worldwide director of customer service at Prada. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who together last month re-opened a radically revamped Manhattan flagship at 825 Madison Avenue, are clearly ambitious about the US market. The Italian house also boasts freestanding boutiques in Beverly Hills, Americana Manhasset on Long Island, Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, Las Vegas and The Mall at Short Hills in Short Hills, New Jersey. Moreover, it has announced plans to open units in Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco in the near future.
